Circulation: Overdue, Lost, and
Damaged Materials
Notices are mailed
as a courtesy. Library patrons are responsible for renewing or returning all
material by the due date stamped in each item. Facts to remember about overdue
material:
- Fines are
assessed for overdue materials at 10 cents per day, per item, with a maximum
charge of $10.00 per item.
- Fines can
either be paid by cash, check, or Hoot Loot debit card.
- A notice will
be sent to the patron when material is overdue. After two overdue notices
have been sent, the library patron will be charged for the cost of the book
plus a $20.00 non-refundable processing fee.
- Fines for
overnight reserve material returned late will be assessed at $2.00 per day.
- A lost or
damaged item will be charged to the borrower.
- The cost of
a replacement copy will be the price of the material plus a $20.00 processing
fee. If the overdue material is returned, the replacement cost is cancelled
but the fine must be paid.
- Patrons may
also be restricted from checking out library material if their fines exceed
$5.00.
- Overdue notices
will be sent to the library patron's local address. If no local address is
available, the notice will be sent to the student's permanent address. Please
notify the library of any change of address. The library patron is responsible
for overdue material, even if a friend has the item or the friend returns
the item late.
Destruction of Library Materials
Any person who maliciously
defaces or damages any library material may be subject to loss of library privileges
and may be referred for appropriate disciplinary action.
