
The Curriculum Lab is a specialized section of Buley Library
that offers
resources and services to support the PreK-12 curriculum at
Southern
Connecticut State University. These high quality
organized
resources
include textbooks, children literature, videos and DVD’s.
Curriculum Lab Services
Reference - The Curriculum Lab provides reference services to education students, student teachers and faculty of the school of education. These services are rendered during all hours Buley Library is open and include in-depth research assistance as well as email and telephone delivery of reference services.
Instruction - The Staff of the Curriculum Lab has a program for instruction in the use of curriculum resources. In collaboration with the Elementary Education Department at Southern, the Center provides classroom instruction in the use of its collection and services, research and evaluation of Online Resources and Instructional technology.
Faculty Liaison - The curriculum Lab maintains a faculty liaison with the Elementary Education Department of the School of Education and has professional contact with its individual faculty members at Southern.
Curriculum Lab Resources
Children’s and Young Adult Literature - The Curriculum Children’s Literature collection includes non-fiction, fiction, folk and fairy tales that are selected for pre-school through grade twelve. The collection consists of, among other things, the award books of Caldecott, Newbery and Coretta Scott King.
Connecticut and National Curriculum Guides - Connecticut and National Curriculum Guides, preschool through grade twelve, on all major curriculum areas are collected with the emphasis on the Connecticut Teacher Certification program of the Elementary Education Department at Southern Connecticut State University.Connecticut and National Standards - Connecticut and National Curriculum Standards on all major curriculum areas are collected with the emphasis on the Connecticut Teacher Certification program of the Elementary Education Department at Southern Connecticut State University.
CSU Curriculum Materials Centers Curriculum materials can be shared among CSU Curriculum Materials Centers. Refer to indivulal center websites for information on hours and services.
Connecticut Schools Profiles - Connecticut Schools Profiles are collected annually when published by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Educational Tests and Measures - Educational tests and assessment that support the No Child Left Behind Law are collectedFaculty of Elementary Education Bibliography
Lesson Plans - All major Curriculum Planning areas and grade levels are collected with emphasis on the needs of the Student Teacher at Southern Connecticut State University.
Media Materials - Various formats in K-12 curricula representing instructional games, posters, kits, models, videos and DVD’s are collected. Instructional materials production equipment for slides, Accu-cuts, posters, etc. are available in the Center and the staff provides basic assistance for its use.Reference Materials - Reference works, in print and electronic format, intended for use by children and young adults are available in the Curriculum and Media Center.
Textbooks - Current textbooks in all major subjects and grade levels are collected. Several publishers are represented in an attempt at reflecting the public schools in New Haven area.
