Mission and Goals

Supports the Research Advisory Committee of SCSU in the following areas:

Composition

The Committee of three is elected by the library faculty.  Committee members serve two-year staggered terms, and may be re-elected to one successive term.

BYLAWS

The Research Committee shall discover, share, and promote research opportunities for Buley Library faculty.

The Research Committee shall promote awareness of the scholarship, publications, and creative activity of Buley Library faculty.

DEFINITION OF RESEACH

Experimental, creative or theoretical work that is undertaken to acquire new knowledge with or without a specific application in view. Such research can provide the broad base of knowledge necessary for the solution of recognized practical problems or to enhance the educational and cultural environment of the university community. It could be aimed at solving a specific problem, gathering information to assist in decision making, developing new ideas and products, techniques or work practices or evaluating existing ones.
