Digital Course Reserves: Basic Instruction

1. There are two ways to access Buley Library’s digital course reserves.

1. From CONSULS (http://www.consuls.org), choose Course Reserves from the menu on the right.
2. From the Library Home Page (http://library.southernct.edu) select "Find Articles" and link to the Online Reserve Articles by "Professor" or by "Course" name.

2. Choose either the INSTRUCTOR or COURSE tab:
• INSTRUCTOR Type the instructor's last name, For example Chrissidis
• COURSE Type the course number as it appears in the registration catalog, for example HIS 242
3. For digital reserves you will see either Chrissidis SCSU-ELE or HIS 242-ELE and can click on either the professor's name or course.
4. An alphabetical list of the electronic items on reserve for the course will now appear on the screen.
5. Click on the title of the reading you want to view.
6. Your next step is to indicate that you’re currently an SCSU student or professor. There are 2 ways to access the full-text of reserve materials.

1. WAY ONE (Preferred Way)
   Log in with your Campus Network Username and Password.
   Make sure that you also select “Southern Ct. State University.”
2. WAY TWO
   Log in with your University ID Number (the 8-digit student ID Number) and Library PIN.

7. To print the document, select the print icon from the Adobe toolbar located at the top of the document.
8. Be sure to "log out" from your library record when using a public computer.

Technical Issues:

• Try the Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/) web browser instead of Internet Explorer or AOL web browser.
• Cookies must be enabled for the login to work. Either enable cookies globally, or add consuls.org to the "allowed" list in your browser.
• Mac OS users, you MUST install Firefox browser to view course reserves. Most readings are in PDF format, so you need the Adobe Reader installed on your computer. (The Preview PDF reader that comes with Mac OS may not read the Reserves PDF's properly.) Adobe Reader is available for free at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
